BOSTON -- Keegan Bradley knows what it takes to succeed under pressure.

The Vermont native is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour and has won two tournaments this season, including the PGA Championship and the Byron Nelson Championship. He’s in town to participate in the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Red Sox game against the Yankees tonight at Fenway Park.

Bradley said he’ll be nervous while he attempts to throw a strike, even more so than trying to sink a 15-foot putt to win on 18.

“It’s unbelievable to be here at Fenway and to be able to throw out the first pitch is a dream come true,” he said before delivering a pitch that was over the plate but high to batterymate Dustin Pedroia. “I’m trying to pinch myself.”

Bradley practiced throwing two days ago, but said he played catch too long and that his arm feels like it’s going to fall off.

“I’m going to be very, very nervous. As soon as I pulled into the ballpark, my hands started to sweat and I started to get butterflies in my stomach. I’m very nervous.

“All my boys in New England and in Boston have already told me if I bounce it in or throw it over the [catcher’s] head that I’m never going to hear the end of it. Let’s hope I throw a strike.”

Bradley also said Tropical Storm Irene did a number on his hometown of Woodstock, Vt., over the weekend.

“I feel for everybody and I’ve seen a lot of pictures,” Bradley said. “I’m going to try to do what I can to help and I’m really just thinking about them every day because I lived right there where all that damage was done.”
