Lineup: Crawford returns

September, 20, 2011
BOSTON -- Red Sox left fielder Carl Crawford was back in the lineup Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles after missing Monday’s doubleheader with a stiff neck.

Crawford, who tweaked the neck on his first swing of batting practice Monday, was a late scratch before Game 1. Monday’s nightcap was the third consecutive game in which Crawford was not in the starting lineup.

On Sunday, the Sox started Conor Jackson instead of Crawford in left because of Crawford's struggles against Tampa Bay starter David Price. Crawford did enter the game later as a pinch hitter and doubled.

Kevin Youkilis, who has not played since Sept. 15 as he battles hip bursitis and a sports hernia, was not in Tuesday’s lineup. Mike Aviles was at third base and hitting ninth in his spot.

Tuesday night’s game also features the return of left-hander Erik Bedard, who has not started for the Red Sox since Sept. 3. A sore knee has kept him on the sideline.

Here is tonight’s Red Sox lineup:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Josh Reddick, RF
6. Carl Crawford, LF
7. Marco Scutaro, SS
8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
9. Mike Aviles, 3B
SP -- Erik Bedard, LHP
