Beltran among RF options Sox are weighing

November, 8, 2011
With the Red Sox out from under the five-year, $70 million contract of J.D. Drew, the team is in the market for a right fielder, with Carlos Beltran the best of a pretty thin class.

Beltran's name has been discussed by members of the Red Sox front office, according to a baseball source, but it's far too early in the process to say they have targeted him. The Sox also are looking at cheaper right-handed hitting platoon options to play with either Josh Reddick or Ryan Kalish, the source said.

John Heyman of Sports Illustrated reported via Twitter on Tuesday that the Sox are interested in Beltran.
