Stark: Crawford has the most to prove
February, 10, 2012
In the Baseball Tonight video above, ESPN's Jayson Stark says that out of all the underperformers in the major leagues last season, Carl Crawford of the Red Sox topped the list and has the most to prove in 2012.
"He's getting 142 million bucks and last year he didn't even get 142 hits," says Stark. "It's just kind of mind-boggling what's happened to this guy. Carl Crawford is a great player. The Red Sox are smart people. They didn't just give him all that money because it felt good. They gave it to him because they thought Carl Crawford would be a great fit in their park. And yet, here's a guy who averaged 50 stolen bases for eight years and stole 18 last year. Just was a complete mess."
