Morning report: Sweeney returns

March, 20, 2012
FORT MYERS, Fla.--Good morning from the Fort, where the Sox swing into action Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.

This is either tonight's lineup, or a lineup from days ago, since I'm pulling it out from a notebook that has been used and re-used a number of times this spring. I'm trusting it's tonight's:

1. Nick Punto, 3B
2. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Cody Ross, LF
6. Ryan Sweeney, RF
7. Mike Aviles, SS
8. Kelly Shoppach, C
9. Nate Spears, 1B
SP -- Daniel Bard, RHP

Sweeney's presence in the lineup confirms that this is the correct lineup. He's been out with a strained quad muscle. He hasn't played since March 11.

Also scheduled to pitch Tuesday are Andrew Miller, Matt Albers and Michael Bowden, all of whom have good chances of opening the season in the Sox pen.

Check back later to read about a member of the Red Sox staff who swam in a hotel swimming pool with the Rolling Stones, watched on TV as his father tried to grab the gun that killed Bobby Kennedy, and has a list of the best Italian restaurants in the country -- because he has to.
