In the video above, Doug Glanville and Tim Kurkjian of BBTN explain why they think the Red Sox will make the postseason this year.
"I still think their offense is one of the best in the game ... and guys like David Ortiz is now taking a leadership role, try to get them back over the hump," says Glanville. "So I see them as very focused, and Bobby Valentine certainly won't accept anything less."
Kurkjian agrees, saying the Sox can overcome their early-season bullpen uncertainties.
"I think the Red Sox are going to make the playoffs, even though they're not in a very good spot right now with their bullpen," he says. "I think there's a chance Daniel Bard ends up as a really good starting pitcher. And let's say [Josh] Beckett, [Jon] Lester, [Clay] Buchholz and Bard are all dominant starting pitchers, that's four. I think you can handle a subpar bullpen at the beginning of the season.
