Sweeney activated; Nava leading off

May, 28, 2012
Today's Red Sox lineup features the return of outfielder Ryan Sweeney, who was activated from the 7-day disabled list (mile concussion). It looks like Che-Hsuan Lin will be sent down to make room.

Left fielder Daniel Nava will hit leadoff for the first time this season. He has 7 career at bats in the leadoff spot (all in 2010), with one hit. The surprising Nava has a .448 OBP and has failed to reach base in just two of the 17 games he's played this season (check out Gordon Edes' recent feature on him here).

Adrian Gonzalez is back in right field for the third straight game.

The Red Sox face the Tigers in a 1:35 p.m. start at Fenway. Here is their lineup:

1. Daniel Nava, LF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, RF
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
6. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
7. Ryan Sweeney, CF
8. Will Middlebrooks, 3B
9. Mike Aviles, SS
SP -- Felix Doubront, LHP
