Varitek close to rehab assignment
If he checks out fine, he’ll begin a minor league rehab assignment. Varitek has been able to do all the catching drills and has been able to run at a full sprint.
“I don’t think he feels like he has anything to do differently,” Francona explained. “He just needs to build up some stamina and endurance and then we’ll get him checked again.”
Varitek suffered a fractured right foot on July 1.
