ESPN cameras to turn on Sox, Yanks

March, 14, 2011
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Good morning from the Fort, where Sox players have the luxury of sleeping in a bit, since they don't play until tonight against the New York Yankees at 7 p.m. The game, incidentally, will be televised by ESPN (and on, and there already have been Orel Hershiser and Bobby Valentine sightings in town, which means play-by-play maestro Dan Shulman can't be far behind. The three form the network's new Sunday Night Baseball broadcasting team, succeeding the long-time combo of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. Hershiser made his "Sunday Night" debut last year.

Tonight marks the first game in which Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez are scheduled to play together, Gonzalez having made his spring debut just two days earlier. Terry Francona said he probably will play most of his regulars, but with long bus rides to Lakeland and Orlando scheduled for the next two days, some guys are likely to get an early hook, especially those headed for Lakeland on Tuesday.

Clay Buchholz and Tim Wakefield are scheduled to pitch in a camp game, the Sox preferring not to let the Yankees have another look at Buchholz this spring. Alfredo Aceves, the former Yankee who was nontendered by the Bombers last winter after season-long back problems, draws the start.
