Gundy excited about Cotton possibility

November, 29, 2009
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said Sunday that he hadn't received any calls from the Cotton Bowl, but bowl officials were on hand for the Cowboys' game in Norman on Saturday.

The idea of going to the Cotton Bowl certainly appeals to Gundy.

"We've been to the Cotton Bowl a number of years ago and had a terrific time," said Gundy, who was offensive coordinator when OSU lost to Ole Miss, 31-28 in the 2004 Cotton Bowl. "I thought it was a super opportunity for our fans to stay at home for Christmas and still come down. The Cotton Bowl is a big-time bowl. We were on the brink of being in the BCS and wanted to do that, but if you're not going to be in the BCS for Oklahoma State to play in the Cotton Bowl is great. The majority of our footbal team is from Oklahoma or Texas and they can come in and get a chance to play a very competitive game against a good SEC team."
