Hamilton's 3's gives Horns surge of life

NEW ORLEANS -- Wild inconsistency from Texas' three freshmen has perplexed coach Rick Barnes all season. In the first half of Thursday, Barnes saw the upside as Jordan Hamilton bounced back from an awful Big 12 tournament to pour in 16 points, including four 3-pointers for a 38-37 lead.

However, his ill-advised 3-point attempt from deep with about seven seconds left allowed Wake Forest to get downcourt and score at the buzzer on a Tony Woods put-back dunk.

Freshman Avery Bradley and Gary Johnson each had seven points. Texas will take the lead after shooting just 37.5 percent from the floor. Wake Forest didn't help itself with nine turnovers.

The winner will face No. 1 Kentucky on Saturday.

Wake's Al-Farouq Aminu led the Demon Deacons with 10 points.
