Baylor now 20 minutes from Houston

March, 20, 2010
NEW ORLEANS -- The No. 3-seed Baylor Bears came out ready to play in their second-round game and, short of routing No. 11-seed Old Dominion -- Baylor led 20-6 after eight minutes, -- the Bears have controled things at both ends for a 38-28 halftime lead.

LaceDarius Dunn, limited to 13 points in the first-round game, with eight coming in the final spurt that advanced the Bears to Saturday's game, has 14 points at halftime, six coming on back-door, alley-oop dunks. Quincy Acy's added two dunks and missed his own alley-oop try as the Monarchs have had no answer for the Bears' quickness and athleticism.

Baylor's senior point guard Tweety Carter has been nothing short of a showman. He has 10 points -- equaling his total in the previous two games -- and capped the first half with a beautiful floater in the lane that dropped through as the buzzer sounded. He also has two 3-pointers and five assists.

The Bears shot 55.6 percent in the first half and hit 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Anthony Jones buried two of his own to help uild the early lead. The Old Dominion defense held opponents to 40.1 percent shooting entering the game and 30.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Baylor's done defensively what it's done all season, holding Old Dominion to 35.7 percent shooting.

Clearly, they have not played a team as quick and talented as the Bears.
