Bears pull away in eighth, win 4-2

June, 6, 2010
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Arizona may have fared better had it stuck with starter Tony Hale.

The Wildcats pulled Hale after seven innings of strong play, as his control was slipping. Arizona turned to reliever Stephen Manthei.

Manthei hit the first batter he faced before a sacrifice bunt moved the runner, Chris Slater, to second. Manthei intentionally walked the next hitter before an error loaded the bases with one out.

A Landis Ware sacrifice fly gave the Bears a 3-2 lead.

Arizona brought in reliever Bryce Bandilla for his third appearance of the weekend, but he allowed a Logan Vick RBI single to push the score to 4-2.

Neither team could get any significant offense in the ninth. Baylor earned a matchup with TCU at 7 p.m. tonight. If TCU doesn't finish off the Bears then, there will be a rematch Monday night.
