New TCU uniforms to be unveiled in NYC

August, 30, 2010
Gone are the blood-red stripes on the helmet of the special Nike uniforms that the TCU Horned Frogs broke out last season against Utah and again in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State. The Frogs will debut another new concoction courtesy of Nike and its Pro Combat System of Dress. The school is being hush-hush on when TCU will wear them, but it's expected the team will don the uniforms for Saturday's season opener against Oregon State at Cowboys Stadium. The game is on ESPN.

The uniforms will be unveiled during a Nike launch event in New York City, which will be attended by a few TCU officials, plus a "special TCU guest that's closely linked to the program and the school." Nine other teams will also wear the new Nike uniform at times during this season.

Otherwise, the Frogs' look won't change much. The purple jerseys have been updated some and TCU will continue to pair the purple home jerseys with black pants.
