College basketball preview: Baylor Bears

Baylor Bears

Baylor is coming off an Elite Eight season, returning its best player, celebrating the departure of an NBA lottery pick and trumpeting the arrival of the highest-rated prospect ever to sign with the school -- Duncanville's Perry Jones.

Coach Scott Drew proved it was possible to go to Baylor, win a bunch of games and fulfill your NBA dream. Whether that continues likely will depend on the immediate future.

"We'll find out," Drew said. "In everything, it usually takes a couple years to let success and exposure trickle down."

Baylor will be one of the Big 12's most talented teams and returns maybe the league's best player in LaceDarius Dunn. The trouble is that Dunn is just about the only guy on the team whose role will not significantly change from last year. Last year, what Baylor got from its freshmen was just gravy. This year, it's the meat and potatoes.
