TCU's Schlossnagle honored nationally

June, 19, 2010
TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle was named the national coach of the year by the National College Baseball Writers Association after leading the Horned Frogs to their first appearance in the College World Series. He received the honor Saturday morning.

Schlossnagle led third-ranked TCU (51-12) to its fourth straight 40-win season and fifth consecutive Mountain West regular-season title on the way to Omaha. TCU also won the MWC tournament title to earn the league’s automatic bid for the fourth time in five seasons.

Entering Saturdays' CWS game against Florida State, Schlossnagle had posted a 379-179 career record over nine seasons as a head coach. He has led the Horned Frogs to NCAA Regional appearances in each of his seven seasons at TCU, in which he has earned six MWC coach of the year awards and accumulated a 302-132 record.

Schlossnagle was chosen from a list that included Division I conference coaches of the year and the coaches of the eight CWS teams. He was the only coach to appear on every voters' ballot.
