Fernando Martinez, the Mets' outfield prospect who has endured injuries throughout his career, is experiencing a right hamstring issue with Triple-A Buffalo.
Martinez is out of the lineup for a second straight day Wednesday with Buffalo. He has not played right field since Friday, with his seven at-bats since then coming at DH.
Since signing for $1.3 million in 2005, Martinez has averaged only 78 games a professional regular season because of assorted injuries. He had to cut short his season with Buffalo last year because of a right knee issue, and stopped playing winter ball for the same reason after only one game. He missed time last May with the Bisons because of left hamstring woes.
