Sheffield Tuesday

May, 9, 2006
It's a rainy Tuesday in normally bucolic Bristol, and we could go in a lot of different directions for this blog entry.

I'll start with the big injury news of the day and then discuss everything else. Gary Sheffield went on the disabled list today, which is actually good news for his fantasy owners. Hear me out.

Sheffield still has arguably the quickest wrists in the game, and when one of them isn't right, it's going to affect his swing. Sheffield missed four games, tried to play through it last Thursday and Friday, and now ends up on the DL. How can this be good? Do the Yankees or fantasy owners want this guy trying to play through the injury and either getting hurt worse and needing a surgery, or giving us more 0-for-5 outings? No.
