Sunday morning notes

September, 17, 2006
While we've been dealing with situations regarding Steve Smith and Clinton Portis for more than a month now, and have a little bit of clarity today, the fact is Brian Westbrook gave fantasy owners a bit of a scare Sunday morning.

Sal Paolantonio announced that Westbrook was going to be a game-time decision, a situation that kind of came out of nowhere. Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer doesn't give much indication Westbrook's status was in doubt. What ended up happening? A few minutes before Noon ET Paolantonio reported that Andy Reid would start Westbrook. How effective will Westbrook be? Stick with him. He only needs 50 yards rushing, 50 receiving to have a day worthy of starting in fantasy, and he should be able to do that. Maybe he even scores.

By the way, Westbrook isn't exactly durable. Our pal Will Carroll likes to point out that health is a skill, and Westbrook might be a very talented player, but one skill he does not have is health. Add Ryan Moats for the bench before Westbrook suffers an injury that does leave him on Philly's bench for a few games. It's a likely scenario that Westbrook will miss games this season.
