Garcia-Griese, the new comparison

December, 5, 2006
The big story in real football seems to be Lovie Smith's insistence that Rex Grossman will remain the Bears quarterback. The team is 10-2, after all, and while Rex is certainly playing poorly, the cries emanating from the media and Bears fans would have you believe Brian Griese is the next Peyton Manning.

Well, I'm here to say, he's not.

But backup quarterbacks always look better than bad starters because they're not playing badly. (They're not playing at all, either.) So what if Griese hasn't exactly had a Hall of Fame career, or has thrown all of eight passes this season. Bears fans don't just want to win, apparently, they want to win by more. Griese would supposedly help them do this.
