More injuries, reaction

March, 23, 2007
Can't remember too many days in March like yesterday, with players dropping like flies due to injury. I blogged about Rafael Furcal and Joe Mauer in the afternoon, and then during the SportsCenter Baseball Tonight special we got the news on Chone Figgins. It never ends. Hello, Maicer Izturis!

Here are some second-day thoughts from me and I'll summarize the general feedback I've been getting on this as well:

-Mauer: His injury doesn't appear to be a big deal to most. I seem to be alone in warning people about making Mauer a third-round pick in mixed leagues, and that was before the stress reaction in his leg. No, it doesn't mean he will suffer a stress fracture, but it is possible. Something I didn't note is that this is a 23-year-old batting champion with speed, and the Twins have to be thinking about moving him to another position long-term.
