Team Liquid swept their way past NRG Esports on Sunday to win the grand final at SuperNova Malta, a $150,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament in St. Julian's, Malta.
Liquid, who finished the tournament undefeated, dominated the first map against NRG, winning to 16-4 on Overpass to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three format. NRG responded by opening an 11-4 edge on Inferno, but Liquid rallied for a 16-14 victory for the title and the $80,000 first prize.
Liquid had reached the grand final with a sweep of BIG on Saturday, after NRG swept HellRaisers in the other semifinal.
BIG took down HellRaisers 2-1 in the third-place match to earn an extra $10,000 in prize money. After opening with a 16-9 win on Train, BIG lost 16-4 on Inferno but responded to prevail 16-11 on Overpass.
