LGD Gaming's jungler Xiang "Condi" Ren-Jie has been suspended 18 months and manager Song "Hesitate" Zi-Yang has received a lifetime banned from competitive League of Legends following a joint investigation with the LPL into alleged gambling and matchfixing.

LGD also announced that both parties have had their contracts terminated.

Condi admitted to LPL officials that he was pressured to throw matches after he bet on at least one of LGD's games during the 2019 LPL season. Condi said the violation occurred during the Chinese NEST 2019 tournament, which awards seeds to Demacia Cup.

Condi said that he reported to LGD management that an unnamed individual -- believed to be Hesitate -- attempted to "blackmail" him into throwing matches. After conducting an investigation along with the LPL, LGD issued the suspension to Condi that runs until Dec. 18, 2020, while Hesitate has been permanently banned from the competitive League of Legends scene.

"I violated the (gambling) rule in one match I played in due to my impulses," Condi admitted in a statement posted on Twitter. "At that time, I really hoped that we could win, and it was my first and the only time to do such a thing. However, I never tried to lose the game deliberately and was never involved in matchfixing. I played every game to the best of my abilities and all I was thinking about was to win.

"That being said, what I did was wrong and I am truly aware of it. After that, someone tried to blackmail me with what I did, demanding me to play fixed matches. I firmly rejected them and reported it to the club. Now I am waiting for the final decision and I'm ready to take full responsibility for my mistakes. Therefore, I will not be in the starting line-up for today's match and I hope everything goes well for my teammates.

"Thanks to all of you for your caring. I will focus on practice these days and spend time to review my mistake."

LGD also announced that academy coach Tang "1ntruder" Sheng and player Fu "Fdy" Ding-Yuan have had their contracts terminated due to allegations of matchfixing. Both have also been suspended for 10 months through April 18, 2020.

"The club accepts and upholds the zero tolerance penalty," LGD said in a statement. "From now on, the club will proceed to strengthen its self-examination, improve the supervision and management systems, and resolutely put an end to such incidents."

The LGD violations follow LMS team Dragon Gate being kicked out of the league in April due to matchfixing, and LDL team RW Shark forfeiting their LDL Spring Playoffs spot less than a week later due to similar offenses.
