Fantasy Baseball Closer Chart (last updated May 27)

The chart below breaks down all 30 major-league teams' bullpens in terms of relievers' proximity to the closer role, not their overall fantasy value. Teams are broken down by division.

"CLOSER" is either that team's officially designated closer, or the pitcher most likely to get the team's next save chance. "NEXT IN LINE" is the pitcher next-most likely to take over if something happens to the closer, or the one who might get any save chances on the closer's nights off. "NOTES" beneath each division's chart provide detail on teams' closer situations that might have an unusual wrinkle, like an injury to the typical closer requiring a short term fill-in, or a committee situation.

NOTES: Following the trade of Alex Colome to the Mariners, Rays manager Kevin Cash said the team will use a closer-by-committee including Jose Alvarado, Chaz Roe and Sergio Romo. ... Ryan Tepera saved the Blue Jays' May 25 game with Tyler Clippard setting Tepera up, so the team appears to have returned to a closer-by-committee, which might also include Seung Hwan Oh and John Axford.

NOTES: Andrew Miller (DL: knee) has returned to the disabled list, so the Indians might mix and match between Dan Otero, Tyler Olson and Zach McAllister in the eighth inning. ... With Brad Keller moving into the Royals' rotation, Kevin McCarthy appears the team's new setup man.

NOTES: WIth Keynan Middleton (DL: elbow) sidelined, the Angels will choose from Justin Anderson, Cam Bedrosian, Jim Johnson and Blake Parker to close games. Parker has each of the team's past two save chances, on May 20 and 23. ... Alex Colome was acquired by the Mariners on May 25, and he'll probably slide in as their primary setup man.

NOTES: The Phillies, under manager Gabe Kapler, are using a true "bullpen without roles," in which there is no clear closer on a given night. In addition to the names listed above, who seem to be the favorites for the majority of save chances, Luis Garcia, Tommy Hunter and Edubray Ramos might also be considered.

NOTES: With Raisel Iglesias (DL: biceps) sidelined, the Reds are using Jared Hughes as their closer temporarily. ... Greg Holland (DL: hip) has pitched poorly all year, and might not even recapture the primary setup role once healthy. Jordan Hicks has stepped up as the team's likely eighth-inning reliever in Holland's absence.
