Biggest fantasy breakouts and busts of 2016

In just 13 starts, Chicago Bears rookie running back Jordan Howard rushed for 1,313 yards, second-most in the NFL, and produced 189 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues. He was a breakout star, a late-round flier back at draft time who developed into a consistent fantasy starter for owners in 2016.

So after Howard, who else makes the list as one of the breakout players this season? There are certainly a number of potential candidates. On the flip side, what about the guys we counted on to rack up ridiculous numbers but instead busted out with low-level production? Let's look at six players who caught my eye on the tape -- for better or worse.

Heading into this season, we knew the Bears wanted to pound the rock. Even when Jay Cutler was healthy, the run game was expected to be at the top of the call sheet for John Fox's club. In August, Jeremy Langford was slated to be that guy. A Michigan State product, he had the speed and versatility to step in for the departed Matt Forte.

But as we see so often at the running back position in this league, injuries create opportunity. Langford got banged up early in the season, and Howard grabbed the No.1 role and started ripping off big numbers.
