Sources: MLB probe to include '19 Astros, others

MLB's sign-stealing inquiry has expanded beyond the 2017 Astros to other teams, including the '19 Astros, and sources told ESPN that MLB will meet with managers AJ Hinch (Astros), Alex Cora (Red Sox) and Carlos Beltran (Mets) -- who all have Astros ties.

Red Sox say Pedroia hopes to return next season

Dustin Pedroia is hoping to return to the Boston Red Sox next year after playing in just nine games during the past two seasons because of his injured left knee.

New York Yankees greats Thurman Munson, Don Mattingly and Tommy John are among a 10-man ballot of candidates who will be eligible for selection to the Baseball Hall of Fame this year though the Modern Baseball Era committee.

The HoF announced Mon. that 9 former players and pioneering union leader Marvin Miller are on its "Modern Baseball Era" (1970-87) ballot to be voted on 12/8 by a 16-member committee. Dwight Evans, Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Thurman Munson, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons and Lou Whitaker are the players. 75% of votes are required for election.
