A crowd of reporters waited by Mike Trout's locker before tonight's All-Star Game. But they weren't there for him — they were there for the guy whose locker is right next to him: Manny Machado. Later, after Machado had taken a few questions — saying he had heard "nothing" from either the Orioles or his agent — Trout was asked how his All-Star teammate is handling all the trade rumors. "He's handling it. He's gotta be going through some emotions. It's probably tough for him. He doesn't know where he's going to be playing," Trout said. "He knows he's going to be traded but doesn't know where. But I'm sure he wants this thing to be over." As a baseball fan, how much is Trout following the story? "Obviously, when you see one of the big guys in the market get traded, you want to see where he's going. I just wish it was [to] the Angels."

Rhys Hoskins does his best Mike Schmidt impersonation as he clocks 20 home runs in the second round, including a few low screamers into the first row in left field and a long of 466 feet. It's the best round of the day and a big number for Kyle Schwarber to beat.

Good showing for Rhys Hoskins as he hits 17 home runs -- and it would have been even higher if not for a minute stretch where he tired out and went homerless, only to regain some steam in the final 30 seconds. He's the No. 8 seed, but he's set a tough target for Jesus Aguilar.

As always, the most aspect of any Home Run Derby: Please don't let any of the kids in the outfield end up with a concussion. Rhys Hoskins is the first hitter and takes a timeout at the 2:05 mark as he sits on five home runs. He may have to get into the low teens to have a chance to beat out Jesus Aguilar, however.

Phillies activate pitcher Velasquez from DL

Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez was activated from the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday. He had been sidelined by a bruised right forearm.

Solid major league debut for Enyel De Los Santos, who held the Mets to one run over six innings before tiring a bit in the seventh and giving up two more. De Los Santos used a 92-95 mph fastball, curveball and changeup, attacked batters with 16 out of 26 first-pitch strikes and basically showed why he had a 1.89 ERA at Triple-A. The Phillies got him from the Padres for Freddy Galvis in what could end up as a steal of a deal.
