Nick Pivetta has pitched in the shadow of Aaron Nola and Jake Arrieta, but he's quietly been very effective all season. He's shut down the NL's hottest offense tonight with seven scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 3.23. Take away that one blowup start (six runs in one innings against the Nats) and he's done the job all season and looks like a solid anchor piece for the rotation.
