Indians scratch Encarnacion due to back spasms

Edwin Encarnacion, who was supposed to be the designated hitter, has been scratched from the Cleveland Indians' lineup on Wednesday because of back spasms.

The Indians load the bases with nobody out in the eighth, but Daniel Stumpf gets a double play to escape the jam. Let's see if the Cleveland bullpen can keep it at one-run deficit and give the offense a chance in the ninth.

It's becoming apparent that no playoff contender needs bullpen help more than the Indians. The pen has blown an 8-4 lead, with even Andrew Miller figuring into the mix with three walks and two hits in the seventh inning. Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez are playing like MVP candidates and yet the Indians could still fall under .500 with a loss (and still remain in first place in the awful AL Central).
