Aaron Boone was asked today if he does any scoreboard watching of the Red Sox. He pauses then smiles: "I see they win every day." He adds that he isn't worried about keeping an eye on Boston at this point; as he said, "it's July." "I'm worried about us going out playing our best."

Aaron Boone joked that he watched every TV in the Yankees' clubhouse trying to watch the end of tonight's game. Was also unaware of the colorful language he used before his ejection. He said he did see it appeared the umpires got the call correct. He initially thought the ball hit Giancarlo Stanton's hand and bat, causing the ball to be fouled back on the swing.

An error-filled Little League inside-the-park homer and Aaron Boone's fiery ejection headlined the Yankees' 5-4 win over Cleveland on Saturday. Boone was tossed after arguing a sixth-inning strikeout call on Giancarlo Stanton. An inning later, catcher Austin Romine broke a 4-4 tie and scored the go-ahead run when he blasted a double to right. He advanced to third as the outfielders struggled to get the ball in quickly, and then he scored when the relay throw to third bounced out of play. CC Sabathia got the no-decision, so he's still 12-0 when pitching the day after a Yankees loss since 2017.

Gary Sánchez is flying this evening from Cleveland to Scranton for a rehab game at Triple-A tomorrow. He'll catch seven innings Sunday and then travel with the RailRiders. The plan is for him to DH one game, get an off day, catch once more and then rejoin the Yankees on Friday for the start of the season's second half, per Aaron Boone. Gleyber Torres will rehab while at the All-Star Game this week, then will fly to Tampa and play in rehab games there next weekend. The hope is he rejoins the Yankees when they visit the Rays the week after.

The following from ESPN Stats & Information helps illustrate just how close the race between the Yankees and Red Sox has been, not to mention how well they've both played overall. According to Stats & Info, tonight marked the 75th time this season the Yanks and Sox have played on the same day ... But this was only the sixth time this season both lost on the same day.

Aaron Boone says Gary Sánchez's progress with rehab for his groin injury is going well. So well that if things keep trending the way they are, he'll get in a rehab game at Triple-A on Sunday.

Aroldis Chapman today was replaced on next week's AL All-Star Game roster due to his left knee tendinitis. Nothing has changed with his knee, the discomfort is about the same, he said. He just wants to protect the knee with the possibility of having a few extra days off next week. Chapman still will go to Washington for the game, but just won't be pitching.
