Cool moment backstage in Boston. UFC heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic wishes Chris Weidman good luck in his main event, light heavyweight debut against Dominick Reyes. Good vibes from Miocic in TD Garden. One of the biggest wins of his career (a title defense against Francis Ngannou) took place in this building. Photo courtesy of Jim Walter, who manages both fighters.
Joe Lauzon seems like a staple of the TD Garden shows but actually has been on only two of the five previous ones. He’s 35 now, so enjoy him while you can, Boston. Lauzon (27-15) faces lightweight Jonathan Pearce (9-3), making his UFC debut riding a five-fight winning streak.
Maycee Barber, the youngest woman on the UFC roster at age 21, showed ferociousness and poise beyond her age in remaining unbeaten by finishing Gillian Robertson via TKO at 3:04 of the first round. For Barber (8-0), it was her seventh finish, and it was a methodical destruction of the 24-year-old Robertson (7-4).
