Many experts predicted before the season that Charlotte might produce the worst team in NBA history. Who knew it would be Charlotte's old expansion team, not the city's new one, that would be stinking up the joint? With Sunday night's loss to the Wizards, the New Orleans Hornets are off to a 1-18 start – the second-worst in NBA history.

Will they tie or break the Magic's 1-19 streak of last year? Their best opportunity to get a win in December comes this week, when the play the Bobcats in Charlotte on Wednesday and the Warriors at home on Thursday. The Hornets won't play another sub-.500 team until Jan. 3, when they face the Celtics in Boston.

Everything has gone wrong in New Orleans since Byron Scott took over, and there are no signs things will get better soon. His three best players – Baron Davis, Jamaal Magloire and Jamal Mashburn – are on the injured list. Rodney Rogers and David West are also out.
