Shaun Livingston
Shaun Livingston
Notes: Won the MVP award at the ABCD Camp last summer which really sent his stock soaring. At that camp he outplayed Sebastian Telfair in a highly publicized head to head match-up and walked away with the label as the best young point guard in the country. Livingston's other big moment came this summer when he showed up at Hoops Gym to play with a host of NBA players. Livingston spent a week there and, according to folks in the gym, looked like he belonged. He's had an up-and-down season but scored 27 points and nine rebounds in the championship game to lead his team to the Illinois state title. Won MVP honors at the EA Roundball Classic. He had 12 points and 7 assists. Struggled against Sebastian Telfair in the McDonald's All-American game. Has declared for the draft and will hire an agent ending his college eligibility.

Upside: He's got great size for the position and, unlike other "big" point guards he's the real thing. The comparisons to Penny Hardaway are pretty close, but Livingston is much, much closer to the type of "pure" point guard NBA coaches love. His court vision is out of this world. The fact he possesses an excellent shooting touch and can score off the dribble is really gravy. His game has a real flair to it.

Downside: There's no question he needs to get physically stronger, but right now that's the only real knock on his game. He's not quite as quick or athletic as you'd like, but uses his length to make up for that. He can be unselfish to a fault. He's a good scorer but sometimes refuses to get into the flow.

Insider Projection:He put on 15 pounds since he started working out in Chicago and was impressive in group workouts for the Clippers, Bobcats and other teams in the lottery. In five years he may be the best player from this draft class. Could go as high as 2 or as low as 10.
