Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak made two trades on NBA draft night to select Michigan State swingman Miles Bridges and Kansas guard Devonte' Graham.

Giving up two second-round picks to move up one spot from No. 12 looks like a lot for the LA Clippers, who surely were convinced that otherwise the Charlotte Hornets would trade the No. 11 pick to another team interested in taking Kentucky point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The Nets get Dwight Howard from Charlotte to help clear space for free agents in 2019. Kevin Pelton grades the trade.

The trade for Charlotte is luxury tax related. The Hornets prior to the trade would have been a tax team for 2018-19 and now have a $13M cushion. The tradeoff is that Charlotte inherits the Timofey Mozgov $16.7M contract for 2019-20.
The Hornets have agreed to send Dwight Howard to the Nets for Timofey Mozgov, draft picks and cash, sources told ESPN.
Dwight Howard recalled with bitterness the time he famously put his arm around Stan Van Gundy after his then-coach with the Magic had told media Howard wanted him fired.
At least nine NBA teams will have a different coach than the one that started the 2017-18 season. Keep up with every change on the sidelines here.
From South Sudan to Australia to being drafted to the NBA and learning from Dwight Howard and Michael Jordan, Mangok Mathiang has enjoyed a "very unreal" journey. And it's far from over, writes Nick Metallinos.
New Hornets coach James Borrego plans to make Charlotte relevant again in the Eastern Conference by developing the existing players on the roster.
James Borrego has started work on building his staff in Charlotte after agreeing to be the new coach of the Hornets. The two sides reached agreement on a four-year deal, league sources told ESPN.
The Hornets are finalizing a head-coaching deal for James Borrego, who has been an assistant with the Spurs, Pelicans and Magic since 2003.
The Hornets will interview Spurs assistant James Borrego and Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga for a second time. Both will meet with Hornets brass, including Michael Jordan, this weekend.

Ex-NBA head coach Jim Cleamons had an informal phone conversation with Bucks general manager Jon Horst this morning in regards to their head coach opening, a source said. Cleamons, who was an assistant coach when Michael Jordan starred with the Chicago Bulls, is also getting interest for head coach openings with Jordan's Charlotte Hornets and Chicago State. Cleamons, 68, won an NBA championship as a player with the Lakers and nine as an assistant coach with the Bulls and Lakers.
The Hornets will interview Ime Udoka for their head-coaching vacancy this week, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He joins fellow Spurs assistant Ettore Messina and David Fizdale as candidates for the job.
