Saints/Pelicans owner Gayle Benson has personally donated $1 million to create the Gayle Benson Community Assistance Fund in response to coronavirus, partnering with Greater New Orleans Foundation. $100k will be allocated to New Orleans Business Alliance's relief fund. Benson will also establish Arena Assistance Fund for those impacted by NBA game postponements, with all wages guaranteed for Pels employees who work game days only. Portions of Dixie Beer sales will also go to LRA relief fund.

Giannis, Zion among stars aiding arena workers

A number of players -- including Blake Griffin and Sergei Bobrovsky --- and teams -- including the Red Wings, Tigers, Devils, Penguins and Panthers have also pledged to help their arena staff.

The Saints and Pelicans said in a statement that, "While we continue to operate our business, we are taking measures to best mitigate the transmission of this virus by allowing a number of our employees to work remotely and restricting travel." The statement said team leaders are "very engaged" with the NFL, NBA, health organizations and health officials regarding COVID-19 and will update fans and ticket holders as they proceed.

Pelicans-Kings game postponed out of caution for coronavirus

The last scheduled NBA game before the league planned to suspend the season because a Utah Jazz player tested positive for the new coronavirus was postponed at the last minute because one of the officials worked a game with the infected player.
