Team preview: Yale
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2004-05 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
Last summer when contacted about his team's upcoming season, Yale coach James Jones couldn't have been more excited. Not only did Jones speak of winning the Ivy League title, he spoke of winning NCAA Tournament games. He called his team, "The best I've ever coached."
Alas, this year, that optimism was nowhere to be found. Jones was subuded, still sounding disappointed about his team's 7-7 fourth-place finish last year in the Ivy. After Yale won 21 games in 2001-02, Jones thinks the last two campaigns, with 14 and 12 victories, respectively, have been a step back for his program.
