UNC Asheville won't be the most talented team in the Big South Conference, but don't count the Bullogs out as a legitimate contender because they'll be one of the most experienced squads.

The basketball-playing Bulldogs annually take one for the team, playing more than their fair share of "guarantee games" to fill the athletic department coffers and keep the men's and women's cross country teams, among other squads, afloat. Last year among the Bulldogs' 20 losses -- the most in veteran Coach Eddie Biedenbach's eight-year tenure -- were big pay days and big setbacks at N.C. State, Iowa, Syracuse and Tennessee.
