COACH AND PROGRAM
Paul Haynes didn't play at Grambling more than four years. It just seemed like it. "He's been there for 7-8 years, hasn't he?" one longtime SWAC assistant coach said earlier this summer, referring to Haynes. "He's gotta be done." Indeed, Haynes is. The 6-8 forward, a four time All-SWAC performer and league player of the year as a sophomore, has exhausted his eligibility. And nobody around the league can be happier about that fact than the coaches, all of whom over the last four seasons had to figure out a way to match up with the versatile Haynes, who averaged 17.4 points and 7.0 rebounds as a junior and 17.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game a year ago as a senior. One coach who isn't glad to see Haynes go is Grambling State's Larry Wright, although he insists there will be LAH -- Life after Haynes.
