Will Oregon's quiet approach work better against the Huskies? Is USC QB Matt Leinart considering coming back for his senior year? Is Cal running out of receivers? Can Oregon State still get a bowl berth? Our Pac-10 notebook addresses those questions and provides looks at Arizona State's offense, UCLA's recent struggles and much more.

Jeff Tedford was pulling double-duty this week because offensive coordinator George Cortez had eye surgery Tuesday and could be out for a few weeks, making Tedford the head coach and coordinator. While Tedford calls most of the Bears plays, Cortez ran the offensive meetings and handled much of the paperwork and practice scripts. Tedford described Cortez's condition as "not great."

  • Another banged-up, hard-luck Bear is receiver Jonathan Makonnen. After missing all of last season with a fractured foot, he was blindsided against Arizona and suffered a bruised liver. He remained in Tucson after the game and could be out a few weeks.
