A look around the WAC

The WAC has a long way to go -- to strengthen both its bottom-dwellers and Boise State's non-conference schedule.

Boise State, with its continued dominance, and UTEP, with its resurgence under Mike Price, were national stories. So, too, was Fresno State, which again teased it was a BCS contender before a mid-season slide.

The best Boise State could do, however, was a Liberty Bowl date with Louisville. That shows how far the WAC must go -- to strengthen both its bottom-dwellers and the Broncos' non-conference schedule.

MVP: Ryan Moats, Louisiana Tech
The junior running back's 1,774 rushing yards were most in school history and he had five games over 200 yards. He scored 18 touchdowns, and his 114 points scored were the most by a non-kicker in the WAC this season.
