An additional nugget from Jaguars coach Doug Marrone: The NFL came back and admitted LB Telvin Smith should not have been penalized for his hit against Patriots WR Chris Hogan in Week 2. Smith was penalized for lowering his helmet. Replays showed he led with his shoulder.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said RBs Leonard Fournette (hamstring) and T.J. Yeldon (ankle) will be day-to-day this week. He said he's optimistic about RG A.J. Cann (triceps) being back. If Cann can get through Thursday's practice with no issues it looks good for him playing against the NY Jets on Sunday.

Clark: You can't ride the Bortles wave (0:52)

Jaguars LB Telvin Smith said he isn't worried about how the locker room will respond to Sunday's loss: "Not after the look I seen in the guys' eyes.We came back in the locker room and guys expressed emotions. It's not like guys got quiet. Nobody shied away from it. Things was said, so not this team." ... Smith described the locker room as frustrated: "It's a loss. Who loves to lose? We practice all week to go out and do something. We didn't go do it. It was just frustration that we didn't get the job done. But the thing I love is everybody said we're sticking together. And that came out of multiple mouths."

Mariota comes off bench, Titans beat Jaguars 9-6

Marcus Mariota came off the bench and directed three scoring drives, including one in the fourth quarter, and Tennessee beat Jacksonville 9-6 Sunday for their third straight victory in the series.

The Jaguars defense held the Titans to 60 yards (1 yard passing) in the first half. With Marcus Mariota's nerve issue it looks like they don't have to worry about the Titans throwing anything downfield the rest of the game. Meanwhile, the Jaguars' offense can't get anything going. Keelan Cole and DJ Chark have drops. Blake Bortles has been wild on several throws. Looks nothing like the offense we saw last week against New England.

Jaguars K Josh Lambo has now made 15 consecutive field goals (19 if you count the playoffs) after his 46-yarder ties the game at 3-3. The 15 consecutive field goals is tied with Josh Scobee for the third-longest streak in franchise history.

Malik Jackson penalty to wipe out a fumble, failed fake punt, Blake Bortles overthrow on third down kept the Jaguars scoreless in the first quarter. Marcus Mariota has hurt the Jaguars as a runner in previous meetings and has already run twice on four plays. Jaguars getting good pressure and coverage solid.

Titans QB Mariota comes in when Gabbert hurt

Marcus Mariota, still nursing a pinched nerve in his elbow, was forced into action when starter Blaine Gabbert left the game after a sack. Gabbert was ruled out with a concussion.

Jaguars tried a fake punt with Corey Grant but stopped short of first down. Jaguars has converted every fake they tried last season (4 for 4). The others had Grant taking the ball up the middle. This time he went wide left and couldn't really get the corner.

Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy are both INACTIVE. While T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory are likely to start in Week 3, I'd stash (but not start) Corey Grant and Marcus Murphy and watch them closely. From a long term perspective I find both much more interesting.

Jaguars inactives: WR Rashad Greene Sr. , CB D.J. Hayden, RB Leonard Fournette, DT Eli Ankou, RG A.J. Cann, OL Will Richardson Jr., DE Dawuane Smoot. T.J. Yeldon will start in place of Fournette and Chris Reed will start in place of Cann

Debut of the Jaguars' teal pants.

With RB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) not playing today, expect the Jaguars to have a game plan similar to last week against New England. QB Blake Bortles' numbers in four previous games without Fournette (all victories): 66.7 percent completions, 9.4 yards per attempt, averages 323 yards passing, a 9-1 TD-to-interception ratio, and a 92.8 Total QBR. In 14 regular-season games with Fournette in the lineup Bortles is completing 58.3 percent of his passes, averaging 6.4 yards per attempt, averaging 203.9 yards per game, and has a 17-14 TD-to-interception ratio and a 49.6 Total QBR.

Blake Bortles' average fantasy points per game in the four games Leonard Fournette has missed in 2017-18: 22.6 Bortles' average in Fournette's 14 games played: 14.7
