Overall: Herron red-shirted in 2000 and he appeared in the first eight games in 2001before a stress fracture in his foot forced him to miss the remainder of the season. Herron saw significant playing time backing up Jason Wright in 2002 and 2003. He took over as the Wildcats' starter in 2004, when he rushed for 1,381 yards and 14 TD's on 274 carries and 351 receiving yards and one TD on 36 catches. Herron's versatility is his biggest asset. He is powerful runner between the tackles, who catches the ball well and is an adequate blocker in the passing game. The problem is that he lacks the speed and explosiveness to project as a consistent contributor in the NFL.
