ATHENS, Greece -- The big fat Athens Olympics "lockdown" has begun.

July 1 was kickoff time for the much-touted full security period. Some 11,000 police moved into Games venues for starters.

Starters, in this case, meaning there are more police to come -- not Wild Mushroom Soup.

The aim is to secure all facilities at least 30 minutes before the Opening Ceremony.
