Frankfurt hit with new DFB sanctions following fan trouble at Magdeburg

Police outside Eintracht Frankfurt's stadium.
Eintracht Frankfurt face DFB sanctions following their German Cup match in Magdeburg.

Eintracht Frankfurt have been hit with two partial stadium closures following incidents at their DFB Pokal match in Magdeburg in August.

During their first German Cup match of the season, Frankfurt supporters lit smoke pots and used the smokescreen to fire a tracer into the neighbouring Magdeburg block.

The German FA (DFB) immediately opened preliminary proceedings against the club, which had already been hit twice in 2016 with partial stadium closures for fan trouble, while club executive Axel...

Hat trick hero Javier Hernandez on fire for Bayer Leverkusen in Bundesliga

Javier Hernandez hit home a late winner to complete his hat trick in Leverkusen's 3-2 win over Mainz.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez was on fire for Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

After a last-gasp goal that clinched a 3-2 away win against Mainz, the Mexican striker walked away with the match ball with an impressive tally of three goals for Leverkusen. The hat trick for Hernandez was his second since joining the Bundesliga club last summer.

Following a fracture to his right hand last month which forced him to miss the season opener against Borussia Monchengladbach on Aug. 27, Chicharito has bounced...

Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin shared six goals in a thriller at the Waldstadion on Saturday.

Hertha opened the scoring in the 19th minute with Vedad Ibisevic converting a penalty after Haris Seferovic fouled Valentin Stocker inside the penalty area.

Frankfurt took some time to get settled, but they hit back with two goals before half-time. Marco Fabian brought them level in the 39th minute before Alexander Meier put them in front on the stroke of half-time.

The game was turned on its head once...

Eintracht Frankfurt moved into a share of top spot in the Bundesliga on Tuesday night thanks to a 2-0 win over winless Ingolstadt.

Goals either side of half-time from David Abraham and Bastian Oczipka did the damage at the Audi-Sportpark and lifted last season's relegation play-off participants into fourth place, behind Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin only on goal difference.

Lukas Hradecky had a slightly busier second half in the Frankfurt goal, but Ingolstadt were unable to find...

Marco Fabian shines for Eintracht Frankfurt, Vela starts for Sociedad

Marco Fabian
Marco Fabian enjoyed a rare start for Eintracht Frankfurt, and capped his performance with a goal and an assist.

Nobody expected Marco Fabian to be the star of Saturday's Bundesliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.

Before the clash, the midfielder hadn't started for Frankfurt since April 30 and was consistently seen as a backup player for manager Niko Kovac. Even if Fabian received playing time as a substitute, his performance was likely going to be overshadowed in the match by fellow Mexican Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. With his knack for constantly finding the back of the net for...
