Rennes scored twice in the last five minutes to secure a 3-2 win against Marseille to leave the former giants just two points off the bottom of Ligue 1.

The home side dominated most of the ball in the early exchanges but both sides had little to shout about as shots at goal proved hard to come by.

Yoann Gourcuff went closest for the hosts, but his free-kick cleared Yohann Pele's top corner before Florian Thauvin had a similar effort at the other end when his set-piece also failed to find the target.

Marseille workers' committee said in a statement on Tuesday it approved McCourt's project "unanimously," paving the way for the completion of the sale by the end of the year.

McCourt, the 63-year-old former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has pledged to build a team that will be able to challenge Paris Saint-Germain.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says he was petrified as his team's bus was pelted with stones upon arrival at Marseille's Stade Velodrome on Sunday.

The Lyon team bus was left with a broken window and minor damage after the assault en route to the team's Ligue 1 encounter with Marseille, which ended goalless

"I was at the front of the bus. A paving stone came through the window," Aulas, 67, said. "There were a lot of people hitting the bus with tools, some grabbed onto it, and the police...

Lyon missed out on the chance to go fifth in the Ligue 1 table as they were held to a goalless draw by struggling Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.

Les Gones had a first-half Sergi Darder goal controversially ruled out and that was as close as they got to the breakthrough that would have brought an end to a run of two consecutive Ligue 1 defeats.

Goal-line technology did its job as early as the sixth minute when Marseille keeper Yohann Pele took two attempts to gather Maciej Rybus' effort on his own...
