Saints hope Sofiane Boufal can follow in Hazard, Payet and Mahrez footsteps

The ESPN FC crew discuss the latest rumours as the transfer window prepares to close.

It is a mark of Sofiane Boufal's potential that since his club record £16 million move to Southampton, the wing wizard has been compared to Eden Hazard, Dimitri Payet and Riyad Mahrez.

Providing the former Lille ace is not overawed by those comparisons, fans on the south coast could soon be watching the Premier League's latest superstar import from across the Channel. Boufal's rise from Ligue 2 minnows Angers to become one of the best players in France last season -- only the rejuvenated...

Jay Rodriguez rescues a point for Southampton, makes a case to stay

A late goal from Jay Rodriguez brought Southampton level, despite Jordan Pickford's many brilliant efforts.
A late goal from Jay Rodriguez brought Southampton level, despite Jordan Pickford's many brilliant efforts.
David Moyes says his side might have been fatigued in the final minutes against Southampton due to their midweek EFL Cup action.

Jay Rodriguez found the net for the first time in the Premier League since March 2014 to rescue a point in Southampton's 1-1 draw with Sunderland.

Rodriguez has been through injury hell with a serious knee problem, which ended his World Cup dream two years ago, and a host of niggling knocks which curtailed last season.

The one-time England striker came off the bench with 16 minutes left and slammed the ball under Jordan Pickford to earn a deserved point after Jose Fonte gifted Jermain Defoe a penalty.

Klopp's Tottenham test, Tigers for Mourinho as Wenger battles Hornets

ESPN FC's Ale Moreno and Mark Donaldson predict week 3's Premier League fixtures.

Liverpool's trip to Tottenham is the headline match from the final round of Premier League fixtures before the international break. Jurgen Klopp's men will be looking to bounce back following their shock 2-0 defeat at Burnley last time out.

Elsewhere, Manchester United travel to Hull City, who are surprisingly defending a 100 percent record in the Premier League so far. That's not the case for Leicester, though, with the defending champions hosting Swansea still searching for their first win of...

Charlie Austin could be key to handing Claude Puel his first Southampton win

Zlatan dazzled and Paul Pogba debuted for Manchester United as Jose Mourinho's men took down Southampton 2-0.

Charlie Austin's storybook start to his Southampton career seems a long time ago, but Claude Puel should turn to the front man to give his St Mary's reign the jumpstart it requires against Sunderland on Saturday.

Almost from the moment Austin completed his surprise transfer from Queens Park Rangers in January, Saints fans were crowing they had pulled off one of the signings of the century. After scoring within minutes of coming on as a substitute to lead the south coast side to an historic 1-0 win...

Manchester United playing in Mourinho style already as Paul Pogba shines

The ESPN FC crew discuss Paul Pogba's Premier League debut.

Manchester United sealed another typical Jose Mourinho win on the Portuguese's Old Trafford debut on Friday night, easing past Southampton 2-0. Like their 3-1 win at Bournemouth five days earlier, United showed an impressive level of organisation so early into the new regime, while producing enough danger at the other end to win comfortably.

Their fluency varied when facing an established defence, and that is another reflection of Mourinho, who values transitions above elaborate moves. United often...
