Swansea have ability to frustrate Liverpool in latest tough test

Brian McBride and Alexis Nunes react to reports of Bob Bradley being linked to the Swansea City managerial role.
Guidolin and Swansea are capable of derailing Liverpool but must play positively amid the pressure.

Manager Francesco Guidolin is under pressure to arrest a five-game winless streak but his chances of doing so against a slick Liverpool on Saturday look slim. The club's new American owners, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, are due to attend the match. Swansea might be hard pushed to get a positive result, but a positive performance could be enough to persuade the powers that be to give Guidolin a little more time.

It's funny how a single result can completely change the landscape of a team in crisis....

FA Chairman Greg Clarke says Sam Allardyce left his position as England manager based on things he said, not performance.
FA Chairman Greg Clarke says the departure of Sam Allardyce is sad rather than embarrassing for the English FA.

- Allardyce's behaviour has made England the laughing stock of world football, according to former Three Lions captains Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand.

Fernando Llorente impresses despite Swansea loss to Manchester City

While Swansea went toe-to-toe with Manchester City in the first half, City broke away in the second via a Sergio Aguero brace.
While Swansea went toe-to-toe with Manchester City in the first half, City broke away in the second via a Sergio Aguero brace.
Even with two more goals to his name, Pep Guardiola thinks he can get more out of Sergio Aguero.

A much improved performance from Swansea probably would have beaten just about any other side on Saturday, but it wasn't quite enough to stop Pep Guardiola's ruthless City from marching to a 10th consecutive win.

Positives

Swansea's game was better in almost every area. Captain Leon Britton's presence helped calm a recently anxious Swansea side, while a league debut for Mike van der Hoorn in place of Federico Fernandez shows that poor form will no longer be tolerated. Fernando Llorente also finally...

Aguero returns in style as Man City make it 10 wins in 10 vs. Swansea

ESPN FC's Alexis Nunes and Craig Burley break down the latest from week 6 throughout the Premier League.

SWANSEA, Wales -- Three points from Manchester City's 3-1 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

1. City's perfect 10

Manchester City made it a perfect 10 wins in 10 matches to start the season, but were pushed as hard as they have been at any point this campaign by a hard-working Swansea City.

Pep Guardiola also made it six wins out of six in the Premier League -- equalling Carlo Ancelotti's record for winning starts for new managers -- and City extended their early advantage to four...

Chelsea will look to hit back after last week's 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool when they travel to bitter rivals Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are stuck in a rut. Yes, they won against League One Northampton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, but it's two defeats in a row in the league ahead of the visit of champions Leicester.

Elsewhere, Manchester City have a 100 percent record under Pep Guardiola, and the latest team to try and stop them, Swansea, lost 2-1...

Swansea fans unhappy with Francesco Guidolin's style

Gylfi Sigurdsson struck but Swansea slipped to defeat against Manchester City in the EFL Cup.

It's safe to say Swansea's season has not gone quite according to plan. The club sit in 15th place purely on goal difference, but are just a single point above the drop zone. Swansea have claimed one point over their last four fixtures, and the next three games aren't going to provide much opportunity to improve on that total. Liverpool and Arsenal beckon, but only after Wednesday night's EFL Cup opponents Manchester City play again at the Liberty on Saturday.

That EFL Cup fixture -- a 2-1 victory...
