Non-league Thamesmead score incredible wind-assisted FA Cup goal

In what was a historic match, a brilliant freak goal ensured that the first ever FA Cup tie to take place off the coast of the British mainland ended in a draw.

Thamesmead Town made the long trip from Kent to the Channel Islands to take on Guernsey in the preliminary rounds of the competition on Saturday, and raced into a 2-0 half time lead thanks to a heavily wind-assisted goal from Jack Mahoney.

Fourth extra-time substitute to be allowed in later FA Cup rounds

The FA Cup is hoping to allow a fourth substitute in extra time.

The FA Cup is planning to allow a fourth substitution during extra time from the quarterfinals onwards as part of a test for a proposed law modification.

The change, which is subject to approval from the International Football Association Board (IFAB), will see teams who have made all three changes during the 90 minutes of a quarterfinal, semifinal or final tie permitted one additional switch during extra time.
