Wigan boss Paul Cook is sweating on the fitness of star man Nick Powell ahead of Tuesday's clash with Northampton.

Powell limped off midway through Saturday's 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers but Latics medical staff hope the problem is just down to fatigue.

Cook will have a number of new options with both Chey Dunkley and Ryan Colclough returning from suspensions.

Ivan Toney remains on standby should Powell fail to make the cut while Gary Roberts will also hope to figure from the start.

Lee Novak scored his first goal for Scunthorpe as they beat neighbours Doncaster 1-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Novak, a deadline-day signing from Charlton, put Scunthorpe ahead after 10 minutes when he headed home a Josh Morris corner.

The goal gave Scunthorpe comfort in a rather tame derby match against a Doncaster side lacking fluency during the first half at least.

Rovers improved after the break and had a couple of very good early chances to level.

High-flying Peterborough were denied a late winner as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at Walsall.

Gwion Edwards' 71st-minute strike cancelled out former Posh man Erhun Oztumer's opener before Junior Morias looked to have won it for United - but the officials ruled it offside after a lengthy delay.

Only the woodwork prevented Walsall going ahead after nine minutes as Oztumer saw a dipping 25-yard volley hit the crossbar.

He had better luck after 37 minutes, lashing Walsall in front from 15 yards at...

Two goals in the space of three second-half minutes saw Southend United secure a 2-2 draw with 10-man Northampton Town at Roots Hall.

The Cobblers led 2-0 at the break but strikes from Jason Demetriou and Anthony Wordsworth saw Phil Brown's side fight back to pick up a share of the spoils.

Northampton opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Leon Barnett's low shot from Yaser Kasim's right-wing corner was deflected into his own net by Nile Ranger.

The Cobblers doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute...

League One leaders Shrewsbury kept up their blistering start to the season with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Oldham.

Jon Nolan's second-half goal handed the Shrews a fourth-straight victory, while Oldham ended the game with 10 men after Eoin Doyle's injury-time red card.

Shrewsbury went in front after 19 minutes as home goalkeeper Jack Ruddy failed to hold Joe Riley's low cross and the loose ball was forced in by Stefan Payne.

Payne was injured in the process of scoring and Oldham almost snatched an equaliser...
