Paris Saint-Germain clinch cup win with fine display from Javier Pastore

Javier Pastore's goal had a bit of luck but the Argentine was superb in PSG's latest trophy win.

Paris Saint-Germain are Coupe de la Ligue champions for the third consecutive season thanks to a 2-1 win over Lille OSC at Stade de France on Saturday. Although the nature of Les Parisiens' victory was flattering, the men from the capital now have six titles to their name.

Argentina international pair Javier Pastore and Angel Di Maria got the goals for Laurent Blanc's men but both received significant slices of luck with their strikes. Pastore's opener was a fine volley but Layvin Kurzawa was...

Laurent Blanc hails PSG withstanding pressure to earn cup glory

Angel Di Maria scored the winning goal as PSG claimed the second trophy of what they hope will be a domestic Treble.

Paris Saint-Germain put in a top performance under pressure to win the Coupe de la Ligue, manager Laurent Blanc said after Saturday's 2-1 win.

A second yellow card to Adrien Rabiot in the 70th minute with the game level had PSG on the ropes, but they responded with Angel Di Maria's winner just four minutes later to win the cup for a third straight season.

"Even with 10 men my players wanted to win," the coach told France 2. "That may be the best the team has withstood pressure to win."

Angel Di Maria scored the winning goal for PSG in Saturday's Coupe de la Ligue final.

Paris Saint-Germain completed the second leg in their quest for a domestic Treble as Angel Di Maria's late strike handed them a hard fought 2-1 win over Lille to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue.

With the score locked at 1-1 with 20 minutes left -- after Javier Pastore's opener was cancelled out by Djibril Sidibe -- it looked like Laurent Blanc's side might go away from the Stade de France empty handed as they were reduced to 10 men, Adrien Rabiot receiving his marching orders for a second yellow card.

However,...

Paris Saint-Germain motivation in question before Coupe de la Ligue final

Two time reigning champions and all-time record holders with five titles, Paris Saint-Germain will chase a sixth Coupe de la Ligue crown and third in succession when they welcome Lille OSC to the French capital on Saturday.

While Les Parisiens already have this trophy to their name five times, Les Dogues are still hunting for their first taste of this particular silverware. However, the last time the northerners were in Paris at Stade de France -- back in 2011 -- they beat their hosts 1-0 to complete...

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby suffers injury in Marseille training

In the past three seasons, Abou Diaby has appeared in just 12 Premier League matches.
Abou Diaby has yet to appear for Marseille and has been out since Arsenal's 2-1 loss to Southampton in September 2014.

Abou Diaby's much-anticipated debut for Marseille has been put back again after the former Arsenal midfielder picked up a calf injury in training.

Diaby, 29, had looked close to a return to action after being included in Marseille's squad for their Coupe de France tie with lower league Trelissac last month and named on the bench for their 1-1 draw with Saint-Etienne on Feb. 21.

However, Marseille manager Michel confirmed on Wednesday that Diaby would not be fit for Thursday's cup quarter-final...
