Neymar family 'calm' as case over 2013 transfer to Barcelona is reopened

Barcelona received five goals from four different players and cruised to a 5-0 win over Gijon without Lionel Messi.

Neymar's family have said they are "very calm" after a fraud case against the Barcelona star and his father relating to the player's move to the Camp Nou was reopened last week following an appeal by Spanish prosecutors.

The case centres around a complaint made by investment company DIS, which claims it is due more money from the 2013 deal.

"We're very calm because all the contracts legally, ethically and morally comply with the rules," a statement released by the family said.

Traditional domestic giants caught up in Brazilian league relegation mire

Cruzeiro coach Mano Menezes
Mano Menezes has brought back some confidence to the Cruzeiro camp who are caught up in the relegation battle.

Going into the home straight -- 11 of the 38 rounds remain -- and the battle for the Brazilian league title is heating up nicely. Third-placed Atletico Mineiro are not out of the picture. But the focus is on the front two; Palmeiras of Sao Paulo won on Saturday to stretch their lead at the top to four points -- duly reduced to just one, 24 hours later when Rio de Janeiro giants Flamengo staged a late rally to overcome Cruzeiro.

Madrid court re-opens case against Neymar for Barcelona transfer

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique says that Messi, Suarez, and Neymar are all aware they can't play every match for the club.
Barcelona's Neymar aims to be in the conversation right behind Messi and Ronaldo when it comes to awarding the Ballon d'Or.
A Hat-trick from Messi, two from Suarez and one each from Neymar and Iniesta showed Celtic what playing in Europe is all about.

A fraud case against Neymar and his father relating to the Brazilian international's 2013 transfer to Barcelona has been re-opened following an appeal by Spanish prosecutors.

Judge Jose de la Mata had ruled in July that FIFA regulations were "clearly not properly followed" but declared that the issue was not one for the criminal court to settle, claiming it was a matter for a civil court.

But prosecutors successfully argued on Friday that both Neymar and his father were aware of potentially fraudulent...

Gabriel Jesus: Pep Guardiola's phone call made me join Manchester City

Pep Guardiola's time as Manchester City manager couldn't have got off to a better start with a perfect eight from eight.

Gabriel Jesus has revealed that a telephone call from Pep Guardiola helped convince him to sign for Manchester City.

Gabriel, 19, signed a five-year deal with the Premier League leaders in August but will remain with Palmeiras until the end of the Brazilian season in December, with the club currently a point clear at the top of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A table.

The forward also reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, but he says...

Ronaldinho to play Dec. 3 friendly for Mexico third-tier club Cinco Estrellas

The guys answer your tweets about Landon Donovan, Ronaldinho and Manchester United.

Brazil great Ronaldinho, who is not currently signed with a club, will play a Dec. 3 friendly for Mexican league third-division club Cinco Estrellas.

The 36-year-old has been without a club since he left Fluminense last September and was reported to be considering offers from both Major League Soccer and the Chinese Super League.

Despite a one-year hiatus from the game, Ronaldinho told reporters earlier this month that he still feels he has one more club in him before retirement.

"The idea is to...
